THE SPIEL

With a soft spot for intimate character-driven narratives, Sam’s work is often anchored within niche subcultures. Influenced by his working-class roots of South London, he strives to capture moments of grounded authenticity by blending fiction and non-fiction elements.

Receiving a D&AD Award for his commercial work for Adidas and having a series of documentaries exhibited at esteemed institutions like The Tate, helped wedge Sam’s foot in the industry’s door. His shorts gained recognition at festivals such as BFI and Raindance but it was his time spent filming in Iraq, years forging bonds in the bodybuilding community and his own journey with mental health that matured Sam as a narrative storyteller.

His films explore themes of identity, resilience, mental wellbeing and the search for meaning in the modern world. His storytelling aims to evoke empathy, understanding and bridge societal divides. Embracing filmmaking as a privilege, he values every opportunity to collaborate and craft boundary-pushing narratives.
